Prince William Eye Associates offers the experience and expertise you demand, providing comprehensive eye examinations that not only provide exceptional vision, but also analyze your eyes for conditions that could potentially threaten your sight. Our location in Manassas, VA allows us to service other areas such as, Gainesville, Nokesville, Bristow, Centreville, Warrenton, and Woodbridge, VA

Our services

We provide complete eye examinations for children, seniors and every age in between, providing spectacle and contact lens fittings as well as consultations for laser vision correction surgeries such as LASIK and PRK. Our office also features a wide selection of eyewear and an on-site laboratory to fabricate your glasses quickly. Furthermore, our doctor’s specialized residency training in ocular disease ensures that eye conditions which potentially threaten your vision are constantly under surveillance; and, that any detected disorders are then managed professionally and promptly before lasting damage occurs.

In addition, Virginia’s scope of practice for optometrists was expanded in March 2022 to include certain office-based laser procedures, including YAG laser capsulotomy, selective laser trabeculoplasty, and laser peripheral iridotomy.

YAG capsulotomy: A laser procedure used to treat posterior capsular opacification (PCO), also known as a “secondary cataract”. PCO is a common complication after cataract surgery where the thin membrane behind the artificial lens becomes cloudy, causing blurred vision and glare. YAG capsulotomy is a safe and effective treatment to restore clear vision.

Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT): A laser procedure used to lower intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with glaucoma or ocular hypertension. SLT improves how fluid drains from the eye, and can reduce IOP by 20-30%. It is a safe and effective treatment that can be repeated if needed. SLT can eliminate the need for glaucoma eye drops in some patients, or reduce the amount needed. The procedure is usually covered by most major insurance companies.

Dr. Byrnes is proud to be one of the few optometrists in Virginia certified to perform YAG capsulotomy for posterior capsular opacification and selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT) for glaucoma. These procedures will be offered in our office starting in October 2025.
